Quality Assurance and Safety of ASEAN Fish and Fish Products –
HACCP Approach
At
the highest level, the overall goal of the project is to support the establishment
of a regional ASEAN environment for the development of a competitive private
and SME sector with a particular focus on the quality and safety of food
and agriculture products.
Specifically the project will look to;
- Develop a mechanism to promote the implementation of a food safety
system (HACCP based) for fish products to the small-scale fish processing
industry in ASEAN (especially for the CLMV countries),
- Document and develop guidelines on the hazards and controls for ASEAN
fish products, and
- Develop a mechanism for training of industry and government personnel
in auditing and verification of HACCP systems.
AMSAT, in association with Australian Maritime College and Southeast
Asian Fisheries Development Centre, is implementing this project which
began in April with a specialist regional mission followed by a meeting
of the Project Coordination Group.
A series of regional workshops are to be held in Yangon (July), Ho Chi
Minh City (August) and Phnom Penh (December).
